FROM NOTTINGHAM TO MAIDSTONE.

by Stu Lovenskate on August 3, 2010

Last friday i got a call from StePHen Bates.

He told me he is about to embark on a massive skate from Nottingham to Maidstone, in order to raise money for Leukaemia Research, a condition which he recently recovered.

He wrote;
I called earlier today, here is that poster I been putting up. I will be starting on the 10th August and think it will take a week (ish).

Main places at the moment are Nottingham, Leicester, Kettering, Milton Keynes, Luton, Camden Town, Swanley and Maidstone. However just found a cycle path between Market Harborough and Northampton so Kettering and Milton Keynes may change.

If you know any skate spots on the way I could check out? Probably not to skate as my legs will be knackered.

The back story, was after the first year of university in 2006  I was dignosed  with leukaemia and had a year out for main treatment and went back to study while still recieving some treatment. Only finished treatment in september 2009 and just graduated in July. Love the skate culture and always thinking about skateboard designs and thought it would be a good idea to then skate back from university to my home in Maidstone. A fitting challenge to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. I’m aiming for approx 30 miles a day in three, 3 hour sessions a day.

If you could put some info out there to get more money for the charity that would be excellent. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I should be in London around the 14th to 16th, so could pop by Lovenskate.

The website for donation is www.justgiving.com/SkatingSteveee

Also if you have any stickers or promotional stuff like that, I will be happy to put it on while I skate to say thank you for your help.

Thanks

Stephen
