22/1/10 - SKATEBOARDING IS WAY BETTER THAN THIS!...

"when i was 16, i quit working at Burger King, spent my last wages on a full set-up from Surf Shack, and went to the Maidstone Law Courts to try and copy local legend tech ripper, 'Russel Haffner' doing nose wheelies. I'm 32 now, and Russ lives in Japan with his Misses, but some things never change, i'm still learning nose wheelies, and he's still ripping!
He sent me this pic of a Lovenskate sticker he took on the Slopes near Tokyo. It's SICK! I totally agree too, snow is a massive Ballache!
If you have one of these stickers, and can shoot a photo of it against something that Skateboarding is better than, then send it in - stu@lovenskate.com
The person best pic will win a T-shirt.

29/12/09 - "ATATAY!!!'

My good friend Alfredo Coloma took these photos of the ATATAY crew at the colourful Parque de las Cholas in La Paz, Bolivia.
Afredo has been taking skateboard photos in La Paz for a few years, and as soon a the idiots in the Sony shop fix his video camera then he'll start documenting the La Paz scene for a video release later in 2010. Maybe we'll get a chance to be in it, as myself and some of the Lovenskate crew are planning a trip there to take out some boards, eat our body weight in Empanadas, and generally get ourselves in trouble in May or June. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Get to know about the Bolivian Skate scene by watching the trailer for 'Super Jumbo' here - or better still, buy it for £6, and i'll send you loads of other goodies with it!

14/08/09 - "BASEL 09"

This years European Championships in Basel was amazing!!!
The street course was off the hook, I got to skate the Black Cross Bowl that Pontus and Ollie Burgen built, a 14 year old kid called Axel won both the street and ramp comps and we had a sales stand and sold EVERYTHING! (including all the Lovenskate / Carhartt Collaboration "BASEL!" T-shirts).
If you've never been, or don't know what it is, get yourself out there next year, there is a serious lack of British support!
BIG thanks to Big Lars and Bertrant form Carhartt for hooking me up with the t's and the stand and the 5 Star hospitality. Thanks to everyone who bought a Lovenskate T'shirt, and well done to everyone who entered and came along to support.

05/08/09 - LOVENSKATE NO. 11 - "THE INJURY ISSUE"

I just did 1000 copies of the new zine, and this week, Lilli, (Lovenskate's new additional print arm) has been screen printing the front cover illustrated by Mr Paddy Jones.

This 16 page cut'n'paste zine is for all those who fell in love with their nurse and those who creak with the first steps in the morning. For those who A-Z to save their A.C.L. or face weeks of P.R.I.C.E. All those who gave it ‘one more try’ and those who love to say “I told you so”.For all those who dialed 999, and who never left a fallen comrade. And especially for those, who after years of service, are growing old on the mini ramp.

If you would like a copy, you can pick one up in good Skater Owned Skateshops, or send an A5 S.A.E. to Lovenskate, The Mangle, 5-10 Crown Works, Temple Street. London. E2 6QQ

06/07/09 - Robbin "Leggings" Oost.
Our mate Robbin 'Leggings' Oost just stayed on our floor for the weekend and what a pleasure it was. He is from Holland, and in Holland they speak Dutch. In Dutch, 'Robbin' translates as 'Absolutely', and 'Oost' translates as 'No Half Measures'.
This applies to everything he does, including partying (he is currently the only person to skate drunk, half naked and barefoot to the corner shop near the Lovenskate Studio to buy beer at 3 in the afternoon) and my god does it apply to his skateboarding! Check out this triple set ollie!

leggins5set

He is entering Volcom Dam Am in Amsterdam again this year (last year he came 11th) and the Etnies Euro Champs in Basel, so we are all wishing him the best of Luck!
He is a super nice guy and I am stoked that he is representing Lovenskate. Check out this video of his run in last years Dam Am -http://tacky.nl/skateboard/video/?id=82712

30/06/09 - Afghan Skateboarders take to the streets!!!
afganskate
By Jonathon Burch

KABUL (Reuters) - It was an unlikely scene in the Afghan capital on Sunday as dozens of boys and girls took to the streets on skateboards, weaving in and out of traffic, past market stalls, donkey carts and hooting cars.

Police in a pick-up truck provided an escort. With sirens blaring, officers shouted commands through a megaphone at motorists telling them to make way for the kids of Afghanistan's first skateboarding school: Skateistan.

"In the name of God!" cheered one man at the side of the road, clapping and smiling in disbelief.

"Long live Afghanistan!" the children shouted in reply as they skated past.

Wearing white T-shirts adorned with "Skateistan" logos, the children zipped from the national stadium -- once the scene of public Taliban executions -- to another part of the city to take part in a competition in honour of world Go Skateboarding Day.

One of the world's poorest and most conservative countries seems like a strange place to set up a skateboarding school, but the founders of Skateistan say it has proven a remarkably successful way to reach out to marginalised kids.

"It's more than just skateboarding," said Oliver Percovich, an Australian who co-founded the school in 2007 with just three skateboards and has since watched it grow with Western donations of $650,000.

"It's a way to connect with the youth of Afghanistan. These kids are the future leaders and we hope that through skateboarding it can provide a little bit of a level playing field for both the rich and the poor," he said as skateboarders as young as eight skidded behind him.

05/05/09 - Back from the 'Lovenskate Trip to Oregon'
Just got back on Tuesday! Oregon and Washington are SO good, i can't believe it.
We skated hard everyday sometimes hitting up 2 parks. Up at 6 and in bed by 11! It's a world of Full Pipes, concrete pool coping and Diners!.
We even skated some painted curbs in a Wall Mart car park a couple of times, that was really rad, felt like Tom Knox! It's a seriously mental place out there, all these parks in the middle of nowhere, in forests, amongst eagles and deer, really really amazing!
We also did a lot of filming, so hopefully by this weekend I'll have a little Edit together that you can see on here.
Here are a couple of snaps of the Donald Bowl, Bruce the Ox in the Arlington Full Pipe, Hilary Clinton at Battle Ground and a Stupid American Sign! (Click for full size)

We are off to Seattle and Oregon tomorrow, French(tapedcopies.com), Rich Gilligan(www.richgilligan.com), Bruce the Ox and myself, for 2 weeks of Shredding!!!!
We are gonna skate Burnside and there is a massive chance that I am going to slay myself in one of the 90 concrete skate parks that Oregon has to offer!

I made these t-shirts for the trip as Meg Ryan looks smashing, and Hurricanes are SO West Coast right now. I did a few extra so if anyone wants one email me (only 10 quid). See you in 2 weeks (with Scabs) !!!!
Later Skater!

THEY'RE HERE!!!! The long awaited Mug, for those who DRINK TEA, ANG GET SERIOUSLY RAD!
I was gonna get some mug company to do em, but they would have to be done digitally, and the sample looked rubbish. So, in true Lovenskate style, Monique (who is doing work experience with us at the moment) and I hand printed them and they came out SO SICK!
They hold 1 whole pint of tea, so if you fancy a proper brew, they are for sale on the Lovenskate Site for £10. GET RAD!!!

01/03/08 - "SUPER JUMBO" - A skateboard film by Lovenskate
I first went to Bolivia 8 years ago. For one week I walked around La Paz without seeing a single skateboarder there were the signs, waxed marble, ground ledges, all hidden among women clad in Alpaca wool sat in the blazing heat selling anything from mothballs to angle grinders. Then they appeared, and so did a city covered in spots and skateboarding potential. Sometimes it felt like you'd gone back in time on your skateboard, often riding out of a trick on cobbles, but it made it all part of the challenge. I knew that one day I wanted to go back and make a skateboard film, and in 2008 we got the opportunity. We traveled for one month from La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, down the mountains to Cochabamba and to the jungle city Santa Cruz. "Super Jumbo" documents our journey, the rich Skateboard scene and it's characters like Gunnar Quispe, JP, Wazo and many more." Look out for the release of "Super Jumbo" this summer, meanwhile, here is the trailer.

12/11/07 - LOVENSKATE IN BOLIVIA!!!
On December 5th, Lovenskate will once again make the journey to Bolivia in South America to complete a long running project about the skateboard scene there and take some product out to support the locals. Keep your eyes peeled in 2008 for the Lovenskate Bolivia Filmzine ("Zilm"). Meanwhile, HERE is a zine made a couple of years ago about the skateboarding in La Paz. Enjoy!!!
